The CBSE Heritage India Quiz is an Inter School Quiz that was conceptualized by the Board in 2001 with the objective of promoting interest and desire among students to learn and appreciate the history, tourism and sharing the vast cultural heritage of our country. This enrichment activity has gained lot of popularity among the students and teachers’ community across India in the past 16 years. The trend needs to be continued and the schools are expected to participate with greater vigour in the Heritage India Quiz to be organised in the ensuing academic session .

The topic of the quiz will be Indian heritage including, but not limited to- tangible, intangible, cultural and natural heritage.

The key details regarding the CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2017 are as follows:

Note: The Cities (venues) will be finalized after registration and the dates will be announced through the notifications.

Phase 1: City Chapter:

Each region will be divided into one, two, three or six City Chapters, depending on the basis of geographical diversity and the response from each region. The event will be held in a minimum of one location and a maximum of 06 locations as per the CBSE regions.

1.1      The quiz competition will be conducted tentatively between the 2^nd week of November to mid-December, 2017. It will be a single day event comprising of two stages. Each school will be represented by three students who may be selected from classes IX-XII.

• Stage I Round: Written Qualifier Round: A PowerPoint based written quiz with 30 questions to be answered in 25 minutes, where the teams from each school will collectively attempt to answer. The results will be declared immediately after the evaluation is done. The top six teams will qualify for the next round.

• Stage II Round: On-Stage: The qualifying teams from Stage I will participate in an on-stage quiz of 60-75 minutes duration. This quiz will comprise of a mix of verbal, audio and visual questions. This round will be conducted at the same venue immediately after stage – I round.

1.2      The winner from each city chapter will qualify for the Regional Finals where (maximum) 06 teams will participate.

Phase 2: Regional Chapter:

2.1       To be held between Mid- December 2017 to second week of January, 2018. The top (maximum) 06 teams from each region will compete in the Regional Final. The quiz competition will be held in the school where the last CITY CHAPTER of the region will take place. The round will be an on-stage event, with mix of verbal, audio and visual questions. The top two teams from each region will qualify for the National Semi-Finals.

2.2        The schedule of the City and Regional Chapters will be put under the notifications on the CBSE website so that the teams can make necessary arrangements for their travel, lodging and boarding.

Phase 3: National Semi Finals and Final:

To be held tentatively in the last week of January 2018 to first week of February, 2018. The top 20 teams from the 10 competing regions will be divided into 05 groups of 04 teams each. The winner from each group will qualify for the finals. The National Semi Finals and the Final will be held in Delhi and may be broadcasted by Youtube and other e-media.

Guidelines for participations –

Interested schools should submit the registration form and confirm their participation on or before 31st^th October, 2017, by filling in the online registration form available at cbseacademic.in by entering their affiliation number and school number. The registration fees of 600/- per team must be submitted through NEFT transfer only from the account of the school to the account of the Board. The Unique Transaction Reference Number after submitting fees through NEFT transfer must be mentioned in the online registration form. It is also mandatory to fill the name of the account holder and account no., which is used for transaction of registration fees through NEFT.

The registration fees through NEFT transfer may be made as per the following details:

Note: Details once entered cannot be altered after the online submission of the form. Registration forms without UTR code, name of account holder and account no from where the transaction takes place will not be considered. No other mode of transferring registration fees will be accepted. The acknowledgement receipt of NEFT transfer should be retained as proof.

The online registration will be considered only after receiving the registration fees through the NEFT transfer. The last date for online registration is 31^st October, 2017. The schools are advised to register at the earliest possible date to avoid last minute delay.

Participation is open to the students of classes IX-XII. Interested schools are requested to select three students who will register as a team, to compete in the City Chapter.

The printed copy of the online registration form duly signed and forwarded by the Principal is to be sent to the following address super scribed ‘Heritage India Quiz ’ by 1^st  week of November.

Certificates awarded to all the participants of Semi-finals and Finals.
