Skill Test in Stenography of SSC Stenographer

The Skill Test in Stenography is the second stage of the SSC Stenographer examination. This test assesses the candidate’s stenography skills. The candidates are required to take dictation in English or Hindi at the prescribed speed and then transcribe the same on a computer. The details of the Skill Test are as follows:

  1. For Stenographer Grade ‘C’:
    • Dictation: 100 words per minute (w.p.m)
    • Transcription: 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi)
  2. For Stenographer Grade ‘D’:
    • Dictation: 80 words per minute (w.p.m)
    • Transcription: 50 minutes (English) and 70 minutes (Hindi)
